Your executive team met on April 8, 2026, and I’m happy to report one thing immediately: people are cooking. Ideas were flowing, plans were made, and yes, spreadsheets were probably harmed in the process.
Here’s what’s coming your way.
🎓 New Scholarship Program Launching
BCDS and Haldimand-Norfolk are partnering with Child & Family Services to create an oral health career bursary for local students entering dental assisting or oral health programs.
This means we’re helping future members of our profession while supporting youth in our communities who may need an extra boost.
We’re working quickly, with a deadline to allocate funds by the end of May.
What’s next:

Marketing materials coming soon
Applications opening shortly

🍷 May 4th Society Meeting with ODA President Dr. David Brown
This is a big one.
We’re joining our colleagues at Haldimand-Norfolk for a special evening with Dr. David Brown, who will provide updates from the ODA and discuss what’s happening across the profession.

We’re also exploring sponsorship support to keep costs down.

🧬 Community Tradition Continues
BCDS will continue sponsoring the Grade 12 Biology Award, supporting local students with an interest in science and healthcare. Small gestures like this matter.

BCDS is growing into more than just meetings and emails. We’re building community, supporting future professionals, advocating for members, and creating events people actually want to attend.
